Experience the vibrant character of Ethiopian specialty coffee with Abyssinia, a remarkable natural-processed coffee sourced from the renowned Guji region of Ethiopia. Roasted in small batches by Blue Faro, this coffee captures the fruit-forward and floral profile that has made Ethiopian coffees some of the most sought-after in the specialty coffee world.
Grown at elevations between 1,900 and 2,200 meters above sea level, this heirloom Arabica coffee benefits from Ethiopia’s unique terroir, where high altitudes, rich soils, and ideal growing conditions contribute to exceptional cup quality. The result is a clean and expressive coffee with remarkable sweetness, complexity, and clarity.
Abyssinia is produced in the Guji region through a family-owned exporting company that works closely with local coffee producers. With a long-standing commitment to quality, the exporter carefully evaluates every lot through extensive cupping and quality control protocols, ensuring consistency while maintaining strong relationships with both farmers and roasting partners.
Processed using the traditional natural method, coffee cherries are selectively hand-picked and dried under the Ethiopian sun, allowing the beans to absorb the fruit's natural sugars and develop a vibrant sensory profile. This processing method is celebrated for enhancing sweetness and fruit complexity, characteristics for which Ethiopian natural coffees are internationally recognized.
In the cup, expect notes of blueberry, strawberry, red plum, and ripe red cherry, complemented by delicate floral aromas and a silky body. The profile offers a balanced acidity and a lingering sweetness that make this coffee an excellent choice for both filter brewing and espresso.
At Blue Faro, we roast Abyssinia to highlight its vibrant fruit character while preserving the elegance and complexity that define the best coffees from Ethiopia. Every cup reflects the rich coffee heritage of Guji and the dedication of the producers who cultivate these exceptional beans.
